Blue Bridge Facts

The Blue Bridge is also featured in the 8 Bucks film 'The Thief Lives'. It's the same bridge, if you look closely. Even if you don't, its pretty obvious. Jamie and Simon spent several years in training for their respective roles. They sharpened their combat skills with intense hours spent watching action and martial arts films. They developed their styles and skills with a huge investment in Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur II. It shows doesn't it? The scenes with an empty Bridge were actually shot some months after the combat scenes, which were themselves all completed within a single day. Thats why its destinctly sunny in one section, and autumnal in others. Cameraman Mike refused to be a stunt double for Simon or Jamie in this film. If you want to blame the lack of stunts, like people getting thrown off bridges into the water, losing arms and stuff, blame it on Mike. He said he didn't want to wear our clothes. We have absolutely no idea about how old the bridge is, who built it, anything. Your guess is as good as ours. Jamie thinks an ancient civilisation of Aliens built it. He may be right, as this would explain a lot. Like why the bridge is blue. Simon's main weapon is a poster container. Jamie wields a metal mop handle. Deadly in the right hands. Who would win in a real fight with weapons and all? I'd pay good money to see the fight, anyway.

8 Bucks Team's thoughts

Simon - It's amazing what you can do in a day. We managed to pretty much alienate the entire local community whilst filming this. They may have wanted to get across the bridge to walk their dogs, but we had more important things to do. I guess because we had seen so many Kung Fu films, this was really easy to film. We all had a lot of ideas, and frankly a lot of aggression to take out on each other. I have very fond memories of filming this, even if I do still get funny looks whenever locals see me. Actually, I used to get those kind of looks anyway.
